3 Day Startup is a 501(c) non-profit based in Austin, TX, USA
Well, that's not what you were really wondering now, was it?
3 Day Startup is an international event franchise and community that runs intense full-3-day events, coupled with University communities to help young entrepreneurs create startup companies.
We provide 40 of the most talented young entrepreneurs in an area the opportunity to pitch their ideas to eachother, decide on the most interesting ones, form teams, and get to work on creating their new company. In 3 days, these teams are given everything they need: world-class guidance from expert mentors, workspaces, connections to industry and customers, and lots of great food and drink to keep them cranking out their projects.
On the third day, teams pitch their projects in front of an open audience full of investors and a panel of experts.
Everything is free for participants. Even the hoard of prizes that our sponsors generously donate to give away to teams and participants afterwards. Things like office space for a month, financial and legal startup packages with the best legal and financial firms, services from web hosting providers, and even lots of physical goodies such as cameras, phones, and laptops.
Everybody, of course, has the learning experience of a lifetime. Enabling them to learn the skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs. Our motto is learn by doing!
Our selection criteria for applicants is based 90% on ability and 10% on idea. This is to ensure that we really do get the best of the best. The individuals most committed to making their startup dreams a reality. Because an idea is worth nothing without the right people to execute.
3 Day Startup embraces leanstartup methodology, and helps young entrepreneurs learn these techniques to rapidly develop their product-market fit, do actual customer development right there during the event, and solve the world's actual problems with prototypes that are (usually) functional by the third day pitches.
The goal is to create enough momentum in 3 days so that establishing a company becomes the natural process. 3DS Alumni currently number in the thousands, and exist as a global community of entrepreneurs who continue to help and guide eachother onto successfully creating lasting companies.
The track record of 3DS speaks for itself: at least 1 lasting, established company per event.

What is 3 Day Startup Israel?
3 Day Startup Israel is a functioning subsidiary branch of 3 Day Startup which manages, deploys, and executes 3DS events in Israel.3 Day Startup was originally brought to Israel by Gadi Zimmerman, a local software engineer who had spent a semester in The Netherlands where he was part of a local 3DS event in Amsterdam. Gadi was so enthralled by this event that he couldnt imagine why it wasnt yet in Israel: the StartUp Nation.
Upon his arrival home in Israel, Gadi got to work to do something about it. He setup connections with 3DS headquarters but soon realized he didnt have the time or ability to run the event himself. Luckily for him, a new oleh chadash from the southwest US & Sweden had just arrived in Israel with plans of building his 8th startup and getting involved in the startup scene to help other young entrepreneurs: thus entered serial entrepreneur Efraim Pettersson Ivener to take over managing and deploying the first event which was held in Tel Aviv-Jaffo, March 14th - 16th, 2012. Gadi and Efraim also recruited Yosi Atias, a local MBA graduate from TAU Recanati to jump into the mix, and thus 3DS Israel had its formation.
With Gadi, Efraim, and Yosi now running things together, the first 3DS event in Israel was a smashing success. With the hypothesis proven - that Israel is indeed the best place for 3 Day Startup - new venues, universities, and even city municipalities started flooding in to establish a 3DS event in their locality.
3 Day Startup was now in Israel, and it was here to stay.
